One of the biggest environmental problems of our time is plastic waste in our oceans. Approximately 12 million tons end up in our oceans every year.

Once the plastic waste gets there, it impacts our entire ecosystem. It poses a human-caused threat to over 800 different marine species. This is destroying one of our most important sources of life.

The company Camira from Great Britain has recognized these environmental problems and is taking responsibility. For the first time ever, the weaving mill is using plastic waste from the sea in the production of fabrics. The Ocean product range is made entirely of recycled plastic, giving discarded products a new purpose. This closes the product life cycle and does not end with disposal. It processes waste found floating in our seas, right through to post-consumer plastic bottles that were destined for landfill.

This creates a new, long-lasting product for upholstering furniture and decorating from waste from oceans and seas. A contemporary material for responsible action in a world that should still be worth living in for our future generations.

Camira Fabrics works with the Seaqual Initiative, which resulted in this high-quality fabric series. The Seaqual Initiative fights against plastic waste in the oceans and advocates for a clean environment. One meter of upholstery fabric can be made from 26 plastic bottles.

Ocean gets its durability from the raw material it is made from. It is an extremely robust material, durable enough for life at sea and for the seats that are covered with it. It combines a soft, flowing look with high performance and is ideal for use in modern interiors.

The multicolored nature of the fabric is created by the gentle coloring of the cationic yarn used and is enlivened by the light-dark contrast created by the warp and weft. This optical effect and the delicate body weave create a subtle pattern that makes the careful coloring and construction of the fabric look wonderful.

The Ocean collection's sophisticated selection of 16 tones includes muted, neutral colors with soft pastels and saturated, bold nuances. A versatile palette that evokes the natural colors of the seashore and also offers a selection of bright trendy colors.
